Brazil’s Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro face final debate two days before runoff
Brazil’s runoff presidential election is less than two days away, and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is facing his right-wing rival, Flavio Bolsonaro, in the second and final debate before the vote.
Al Jazeera’s Latin America editor, Lucia Newman, reporting live from Brasília, says the debate is very important. One in five Brazilians, more than 33 million people, abstained in the first round, and many voters remain undecided. Winning over even a part of those groups could make all the difference.
The first debate was widely considered a fiasco, with both candidates spending most of the time hurling insults instead of discussing issues.
