Five long-unseen paintings unveiled in ‘almost mythical’ sale of private collection

Sotheby’s has revealed five paintings from Cézanne, Renoir, Monet and De Vlaminck as part of the Blaquier-Arrieta Collection, which is expected to fetch approximately $450m when it goes on sale in New York in November. The rest of the collection is being showcased digitally, including Vincent van Gogh’s Châtaigniers en fleurs. Most of the paintings were acquired in London in the 1970s by Carlos Pedro Blaquier and Nelly Blaquier de Arrieta.
